Client Background

Client is a safety inspection services company, servicing the Oil & Gas, Construction, and Marine industries in the Middle East. It has more than 10 field inspectors spread over offices in UAE. Was looking to automate the inspection process to be able to manage growing scale and simultaneously improve productivity

 

Challenges

  • Field inspectors were spending time both on field doing inspections as well as in office entering the data to generate records and certificates. This meant they weren't able to do more of their primary activity - inspections
  • Moreover the certificates and records were in individual storages and difficult to access at time of need
  • In addition there were no proper audit trails of inspections conducted on a particular asset. This made it very difficult to identify what changes were made, by whom, and when
  • With more than 10 inspectors on the field the challenge was scheduling inspections for them on a daily basis and directing them to particular locations
 

QwikSpec Solution

  • All inspectors provided with QwikSpec licenses to access the application from field locations. They can enter asset data, perform edits, proceed to conducting the inspection, and even generating a report or certificate. All of this was made possible in real time rather than post-fac
  • Enter asset and checklist templates once. Any change in these are easily propagated to the field through synch of field devices
  • Planning of inspections are achieved through Scheduler which allows allocation of inspections and locations to inspectors along with specified dates
  • Reports of inspections and assets available from Report module. This provides insights based on data patterns leading to business decisions

  • Lowered cycle time for inspection and thus improved productivity
  • The application provided a convenient user interface via the mobile handheld for field inspectors to perform inspections, generate certificates, and also conduct approvals.
